Cannibals now leaning toward Trump (probably)

One last word on the Uncle Bosey non-incident: "'They wouldn't just eat any white men that fell from the sky': Outraged Papua New Guinea academics lash out at Biden's 'unacceptable' suggestion that cannibals ate his WW2 pilot uncle".

Haw! So, Uncle Bosie would have been the equivalent of road kill, eh?

The headline gets one thing wrong, I believe; I don't think Biden's uncle was actually a pilot, was he? I read somewhere that he was a member of the ground crew who just happened to be on the plane that day. Correct me if I'm wrong (I don't want to do a disservice to an honorable man who's already had a bucket-load of disservice heaped on him by his own nephew, who concocted this preposterous story).

An interesting slice of Americana

Here's a short video of Annie Oakley doing her stuff. The setting is somewhat confined, probably because of the requirements of early video photography, so the scene doesn't represent anything like the real extent of her skill with firearms; nonetheless, it is a rare look at an American legend in her own time.

Haw!

Happy Feet Friday

Nuh-uh, Chuck Berry's not gonna let you sit there like a bump on a pickle; time to get up and move with "Let it Rock".

According to the notes that accompany this YouTube post, this record, made in 1960, was one of the last released on 78 rpm.

Haw!

The Resident in the Oval Office thinks Israel was planning to invade...Haifa (which happens to be Israel's third largest city).

Yes, a mere slip of the lip. But it happens all the time, and there are plenty of nominal grownups in the administration who are only too happy to cover for this imbecile.

I have this dark fantasy that the world is going to go up in a nuclear conflagration soon because, one night, Joe Biden will neglect to take his Donepezil.

Pasadena is the city of roses, Wilmington (NC) is the city of azaleas...

...and Hollywood is the city of a$$holes: "‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson Fires Back at Fraternal Order of Police, Praises Himself for ‘Courage’ to Criticize Cops".

I watched the first two seasons of Reacher on Amazon Prime. The first season was interesting, if somewhat egregiously violent. The second season was a confusing riot of new characters, pointless subplots, and choppy directing.  - plus, the Bruce-Lee-like efficiency of the new players, both male and female, was simply not credible. Won't be watching anymore.
